HP iPAQ rx5900 Travel CompanionFor some reason, you may not want to bring your laptop on your vacation or business trips. One common reason is you have already brought a lot of stuff and a laptop just doesn’t fit your luggage. What I like about HP iPAQ rx5900 Travel Companion is it has all that I need in my laptop bundled into a 4.7-inch, 0.6-ounce device. With a 450MB flash memory, I can bring all the work files that I need to get done and music files to listen to.

Affordably priced, the iPAQ rx5900 is packed with a lot of software from desktop to internet to GPS. It has Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint as well as Windows Media Player for playing music files, Photosmart Mobile for viewing or creating photo slideshows, and GPS software from TomTom. To complete it being a true travel gadget, HP has also included real-time information on world clocks and weather forecasts for hundreds of cities.

If you are used to composing emails or creating documents using a QWERTY keyboard, then you might have second thoughts on getting this device, for it doesn’t have it. The Travel Companion uses a top-of-the-line GPS software from TomTom, complete with its turn-by-turn spoken-word instruction set and a sleek design interface. Unfortunately, the POI data in the GPS is not up to date. Though it lacks some features, it makes up with loading pages from the internet faster because of its speedy processor.

If you travel a lot and want an all-in-one gadget to replace your laptop, this could be what you are looking for. I just hope the next version of this will have the keyboard that I need.
